BECOMING A CHRISTIANEach day we wake up and make choices--to get up or to stay in bed a little longer, what to wear, what to eat, how fast to drive and whether to believe in God and be a Christian or not. It's all our choice. We make it of our own free will and not one tells us what to do or think unless we ask for help making the understanding the choice. So, if I choose to be a Christian, how do I go about making that choice? God has set forth a plan to help. This plan is: The Plan of SalvationRECOGNIZE that God has a purpose for your life and a plan for you to possess that purpose. "For God so loved the world that He gave his only son that whoever would believe in Him would not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) REALIZE that you have sinned. Your sin keeps you separated from God's purpose for you. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) RECEIVE God's free gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Exercise your faith in Jesus, believing He accepted the punishment for your sin on the cross. "For by grace are you saved through faith--and that not from yourselves, it is the free gift of God--" (Ephesians 2:8) Ask for this free gift. PRAY: Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. If believe that you died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior, In Jesus' name. Amen. RESOLVE to follow Jesus by growing in fellowship with Him daily by studying His Word and praying, trusting in His love for you. "If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you can ask what you will and it shall be done unto you." (John 15:7) You have to learn to "breath spiritually." We "inhale" God's Work (the Bible) and "exhale" through prayer (talking to Him). Resolve also to be a part of a local community of faith (a church) that teaches the Bible and provides you Christian fellowship. |
